Do you teach total beginners?
That's what we're all about. In fact , if you're not a total beginner or wanting to begin again from scratch then our program is probably not for you.
Isn't this expensive for a course?
There are definitely cheaper options out there as highlighted in our comparison chart but that's for an online course, NOT your own personal teacher and mentor available to you whenever you need help. Guitar Kickstart is both for half a cup of coffee a day. If you're after the best value and best results rather than the "cheapest" then read on......
When you join us you get the experience you would expect from a highly rated music school because you are a member just like any of our private students. Yes - we will even get on a call with you!
That means a substantial investment in personal service and features plus a cap on student numbers. That's the total opposite to what the big course operators deliver (little to no personal service and unlimited student numbers) so there's a very clear choice. One is a great experience , the other is a great business.
We designed GK to get you the best results within the confines of your lifestyle and at a price that represents great value for your money. We are not seeking to compete with course-only offers or those that consider "personal service" to be a monthly Q&A live stream with thousands of other people.
If $3 per day (AUD) seems steep for the level of service we offer then we're probably not a good fit 😉
How does Guitar Kickstart compare to your own private lesson program?
Great question - and the answer should tell you how much we believe in Guitar Kickstart. It's the same program with the same high levels of support. The only difference is that you have the lessons with you all week to refer to and a whole bunch of extras like the community features. Any of your questions are taken care of personally by your teacher over text/video messaging in either private chat or our audio-visual community.
We are in the process of scaling down our local private lesson program and over time the only people that we will accept will be those that have completed Guitar Kickstart.
We believe it is THE best option for most people for navigating their first few years on guitar.
Do you take unlimited numbers?
Absolutely not! If you were looking at a music school for your child and they had unlimited students per teacher (like all the major online guitar lesson platforms) would you be interested? We think online guitar education should be the same and we WILL close enrolment regularly to maintain service levels.
Our cap on student numbers will vary according to the online/local mix - we still have a physical business - but it's safe to say our numbers max out in the low to mid hundreds , not the tens or hundreds of thousands in other online programs.
Our numbers may increase beyond that eventually as we grow but , importantly, teacher numbers will always increase in proportion. Our business has always been built on high service levels - we turn away 90% of enquiry for our private lessons to keep the numbers right- and Guitar Kickstart will be no different in that regard.
What is your availability currently like?
We are currently in a launch phase so availability is good and we are encouraging founding members to join at never to be repeated prices. So it's a great time to start as prices can only go one way over time. We commit to honouring the price you join at forever.
How long does Guitar Kickstart generally take to complete?
Guitar Kickstart is designed to make sure you get everything you need at the most important stage of development , so that you reach a very solid intermediate level as soon as possible.
Everyone will be different in terms of timing and that's even assuming everyone played the same amount. But a good indicator for most would be 3 years - exactly the same as our private students. And 3 years of Guitar Kickstart will cost you less than one year of private lessons.

Can you assist with taking music exams?
Absolutely! We are a real music school and exams are an option for all students working through the Rockschool curriculum with us.
What experience and certifications do your instructors have?
Currently our owner Brent is dedicated to Guitar Kickstart and will be your teacher. He has decades of experience as a player and teacher and has completed many music related qualifications over the years. All the way from Grade 5 Classical Guitar as a teen to VCE Music on electric guitar in the early 1990s to a Professional Certificate In Rock Guitar from the Berklee College of Music (online).
Is Guitar Kickstart just as effective for electric and acoustic guitar?

OUR FOUNDER
As founder and owner of The Guitar Dojo guitar school since 2018 , I have long been a believer in what you might call a "hybrid" method that takes advantage of personal teaching and online tech. We bring the best elements of online learning to our private students.
During the COVID lockdown period we were rapt to see how well our methods translated to an online only environment. Equally effective and for many the travel time saved (if spent playing) can almost double weekly playing time. You might say some seeds were planted and our vision for the ultimate learning solution for the busy professional began to develop.
With the advent of Guitar Kickstart we've taken this philosophy to a whole new level , injecting personal service into the online guitar education space in a way not seen outside of mega expensive college programs.
It's our sincere hope that a quality guitar education can now be affordable and practical for even the busiest bee out there! To your success.
